Judy Hooton

Judy’s career is based on a long period as a teacher and senior leader in 5 secondary schools mostly in the Leeds area. Her experience is largely of leading in schools facing challenging circumstances including ‘special measures’.  Whilst in a senior leadership role, she was approached by the C.C.D.U at The University of Leeds to be strategic director for the Leadership Programme for Serving Headteachers and for the Yorkshire and Humber regional assessment centre for the National Professional Qualification for Headship. When C.C.D.U transformed to become a private company Judy was appointed as executive director and board member.

A new opportunity took her to Stockton on Tees where she became Director of the North Stockton Education Action Zone, a government initiative to support schools in disadvantaged areas, the Stockton EAZ was a collaborative of 17 schools, primary, special and secondary. This appointment created very many opportunities for her to work creatively and often in a leading edge way with the schools to bring about rapid improvements in student learning.

Judy is respected for her strategic understanding of organisations, for her ability to inspire leaders and for her well-developed sense of humour.  These are the qualities that have led her to be chosen as the Chair of the Interim Executive Board of three ‘special measures’ secondary schools and to be actively engaged as a leadership consultant by many schools.

Skills: Education Leadership, School Leadership, Organisation Change.
