Cornerstone Schools

Our vision is ‘Building Futures with Love’

At Cornerstones we strive to be a group of schools which enables every child and adult to flourish and be the architect of their own future, rooted in love.

The theological rooting of our schools dates back to when they were originally gifted by the churches to the village. Their aim was to educate children so they could learn to live as God intended, informed and influenced by the Christian faith. Our vision continues this theological rooting with our vision statement  ‘Building Futures with Love’ and our overarching aim is to be a group of schools which enable each child and adult to flourish and be the architect of their own future which is rooted in love.

Our vision statement ‘Building Futures with Love’ is linked closely with the bible and in the greatest commandments given by Jesus: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength’ and ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Each day we live out these commandments by learning to love ourselves, each other, our community and our world, growing each day as active, healthy and engaged citizens.

Our schools are built on a foundation of love, understanding and support for all children, parents, staff and the community. Love is at the heart of the greatest of God’s commandments and we endeavour to use our cornerstone value to guide us through every decision made and every action taken.

When asked, ‘which is the greatest commandment?’ Jesus answered, ‘love the Lord Your God with all you heart, with all your mind, and love your neighbour as yourself’.

(Matthew 22:36-40)

The cornerstone (or foundation stone or setting stone) is the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation. All other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure.

Ephesians 2:19-22

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit

Psalm 118:22-23

The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the LORD’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.

Our vision is ‘Building Futures with Love’
